The origin and meaning of the name �Amuzgo� is unclear, and there are several theories. It seems likely that the name comes from one of the many Nahuatl languages (w:Uto-Aztecan languages|Uto-Aztecan language family): (1) One claim says that it comes from Nahu. term|amoxco|langnah||Place of Books; (2) another is that it began as term|amuchco||where there is tin|langnah, composed of term|amuchitl||tin|langnah and term|-co||in, at|langnah; (3) a third idea is that it comes from Nahu. term|amochitl||where there is copper|lang=nah.
