Etymology
The origin and meaning of the name Amuzgo is unclear, and there are several theories. It seems likely that the name comes from one of the many Nahuatl languages (w:Uto-Aztecan languages|Uto-Aztecan language family): (1) One claim says that it comes from Nahu. term|amoxco|langnah||Place of Books; (2) another is that it began as term|amuchco||where there is tin|langnah, composed of term|amuchitl||tin|langnah and term|-co||in, at|langnah; (3) a third idea is that it comes from Nahu. term|amochitl||where there is copper|lang=nah.
