Etymology
From the translation of the medieval Latin word term|sclavus||Slavic|lang=la in the Venetian dialect, (I am your) term|slave, originally pronounced /st�a�/. Slavs where often enslaved during the early Middle Ages, thus the semantic correspondence. Development and use similar to the Central European greeting of term|servus.
