#idiom The trash; the wastebasket. Used to implicate the worthlessness of the item being thrown away. Most frequently associated with unsolicited or unwanted resumes, actor's head shots, demonstrative recordings or similar items (the inference being that normally when one files something it is an item of great importance.)
#:He was completely under-qualified for the job, so I put his resume directly into the circular file.
