From Ancient Greek κÏ�βεÏ�νηÏ�ικÏ�Ï� (kybernetikos) "good at steering, good pilot", (kybernetike techne: "the pilot's art", from Ancient Greek κÏ�βεÏ�νιÏ�μÏ�Ï�, κÏ�βÎÏ�νηÏ�ιÏ� (kybernismos, kybernesis) "steering, pilotage, guiding", from κÏ�βεÏ�νάÏ� (kybernao) "to steer, to drive, to guide, to act as a pilot". The term first recorded in English in 1948.
