A North Germanic variant *fuh�- gave Old Norse fóa, Norn fua|fūa. The IE root was also the source of Avestan pusa- (�plait�), Slavic *pux� (Russian п�� �fuzz�), Baltic *pausti- (Lithuanian paustis|paustìs �fur�).
