Etymology
This term derives from Greek γ�ναικοκ�α�ία (gyneco-, a combining form of the Greek word for "woman") + crat ("rule") + -ia (abstract noun suffix). This is sometimes used as a more technically etymologically correct word for what is usually referred to as matriarchy.
