Etymology
Late Latin hypocorisma, a loan from Greek noun ��οκ��ι�μα (hypokórisma) from the verb '��ο-κο�ίζομαι (hypokórizomai 'to talk and handle at a childish manner'). The Greek verb hypokorízomai is compounded from '��ο- (hypo- 'under, beneath, secretly') + κο�ιζομαι (korizomai 'to caress'). In the verb you can see the word κ��ο� (kóros 'boy') or κ��η (kóre = 'girl').
