English
Etymology
Late Latin hypocorisma, a loan from Greek noun ÏÏοκÏÏιÏμα (hypokórisma) from the verb 'ÏÏο-κοÏίζομαι (hypokórizomai 'to talk and handle at a childish manner'). The Greek verb hypokorÃzomai is compounded from 'ÏÏο- (hypo- 'under, beneath, secretly') + κοÏιζομαι (korizomai 'to caress'). In the verb you can see the word κÏÏοÏ (kóros 'boy') or κÏÏη (kóre = 'girl').
