English
Etymology
From F., irregular from AGr. prefix ιλιο- (chilio-)
"kilo-", from ιλιά (chilias) "one thousand".
The "correct" form would be chili-, resulting in forms such as chiliogram and chiliometer. In fact, one such form (lacking the connecting vowel -o-, which is explained at Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia) used to exist in English: chilihedron, meaning a thousand-faced solid.
