Prefix "neo-" (from greek 'neos'= "new") and "tropical" (from greek 'tropikos', referring to where the length of the day equals that of the night)

- Tropical America: the tropical areas of North, Central and South America. The tropics of "the new world". Used in biology, plural only (Not to be confused with the wikipedia:Neotropic|Neotropic (singular) or Neotropical ecozone as used by Schultz, something else entirely).
