Etymology
From the Robert A. Heinlein story Waldo, published in Astounding in 1940, derived from the name of the eponymous protagonist, Waldo F. Jones, who invented remote manipulators to overcome his own wikipedia:myasthenia gravis|myasthenia gravis.
