Definitions | cherubims |
| noun
- (italbrac, irregular) (plural of, cherub)
- (RQ:Authorized Version, Hebrews, 9, 5)
- :And over it the of glory shadowing the mercyseat; of which we cannot now speak particularly.
Etymology: From Hebrew cherubim , cherub + "-"; the Hebrew is plural, but the translators chose to add -s when borrowing the word into the English form, probably because the readers of the Authorized Version would not be familiar with Hebrew or Latin plurals.
