Etymology: From , irregular from Ancient Greek prefix - (chilio-)"kilo-", from (chilias) "one thousand".The "correct" form would be chili-, resulting in forms such as chiliogram and chiliometer. In fact, one such form (lacking the connecting vowel -o-, which is explained at Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia) used to exist in English: chilihedron, meaning a thousand-faced solid.
