Definitions | Klein bottle |
| noun
- (topology) A two-dimensional enclosed surface which doesn't have a distinct "inside" and "outside" (in a similar way that a Mí¶bius strip has only one side).
Translations: Etymology: Named after German mathematician w:Felix Klein, Felix Klein (1849-1925) who first described such a surface in 1882. "bottle, Bottle" seems to have come from a misreading or mistranslate, mistranslation of German Flíche as Flasche (the latter meaning bottle).
