- A competition held as part of a cylce race in which the riders are awarded points for being among the first few to pass certain pre-determined points along the course at the top of climbs. The winner or current leader is known as the King of the Mountains (KOM), or Queen of the Mountains (QOM) in women's races, and wears a special jersey.
