- A brand name developed by the Wi-Fi Alliance to ensure compatibility among products which communicate data wirelessly via the IEEE 802.11 specification.
- The conformance standard promoted by the Wi-Fi Alliance. E.g. I'll send the file using Wi-Fi., I have a Wi-Fi laptop computer., This coffee shop has Wi-Fi for its customers.
Etymology: Desiged to be a rhyming couplet with Wi meaning <U>Wi</U>reless and Fi being the rhyming complement. Some wronglysee discussion tab believe that Fi refers to <U>Fi</U>delity as in Hi-Fi, though the end complement does resonate with this similar couplet.
